The Woodland Gardens
They were originally built by the Lowe Brothers, who built the Clock House opposite, and were designed to encourage couples to stroll arm-in-arm around the parasol walks taking in the views both near and distant.
They must have had a sharp eye for vantage points to showcase the incredible views of the Mawddach and Cadair Idris, as well as the artful topography of the rugged land.
The walks and garden features have all been restored by the present owners and guests are invited to retrace the steps of the Victorian founders and marvel at the eye for viewpoints - often accompanied by a convenient and convivial stone bench so guests can absorb the vistas and drink in woodland surroundings. Occasionally, the walks may be closed to guests due to high winds, slippery conditions or forestry operations.
