Castles & Caverns
Step out in any direction and you won’t have far to go to discover something interesting.
Take a Victorian woodland walk around the Coes Faen Estate. Meet the Ospreys at Dyfi Nature Reserve. Have a go on Europe’s first four-personzip line, or go underground and try the world’s first subterranean trampoline at Llechwedd Slate Caverns.
Test your mettle at The Bear Grylls Survival Academy. Admire the scenery the old-fashioned way aboard the Fairbourne Steam Railway. Meet the ancestors on the Barmouth and Dolgellau heritage trails. Check out the shops, restaurants and prom at the seaside town of Barmouth. Or go medieval and conquer mighty Harlech Castle, an UNESCO World Heritage Site with knockout views over Cardigan Bay.

Above & Underground
Zip World won international acclaim when it opened Zip World Velocity at Penrhyn Quarry, Bethesda in March 2013. Offering riders the closest experience a human being can get to skydiving without actually leaping out of a plane. It involves flying head-first, for just under a mile exceeding speeds of 100mph down a mountain - eeek! - and then straight over a cliff, 500ft above the quarry lake with spectacular views as far out as Ireland.

Harlech Castle
Nearby, within a 20 minute drive, we have 12th century Harlech Castle, built by the English Norman King Edward I to quell the rebellious Welsh, whom he had rapaciously disinherited from their country. It is a remarkable building, in a remarkable position, and now part of a World Heritage Site.

Conwy Castle
About 1 hour North of us is Conwy Castle and the medieval walled town of Conwy. The castle, built for Edward I, by Master James of St George, the castle is amongst the finest surviving medieval fortifications in Britain. In a word, exceptional.
