Dogs & Horses

Dogs & Horses

There can't be many places to stay where horses are also very welcome. The owners of Coes Faen are keen riders themselves and as you would expect have made full provision for your horse, so you and your horse can enjoy all the local bridleways.

Dogs and horses are welcome to bed down in Coes Faen’s cosy Monarch stables. Local beaches and woodlands make for brilliant dog walking and are guaranteed to get tails wagging. And you can head your horse for the hills and explore the network of secret grass-track bridleways with awesome sea and mountain views. Just five minutes in the box and your horse can dash through the waves on Barmouth beach; venture a bit further to follow marked forest trails at Coed y Brenin; or enjoy organised pony trekking at Fairbourne. After a hard day’s riding, treat your equine companion to his very own spa, with a warm water rain shower and infrared heat treatment, before he retires to a nice warm bed on cushioned rubber flooring.

Horses are welcome

  • We are experienced horse and dog owners and would like you to enjoy the wonderful beach and hill rides and walks all around us. So if you are thinking of bringing your equine and canine friends on holiday with you please contact Sara for a chat.
  • This is classic cob country and happy hackers can be out for just an hour or all day exploring the bridleways and old drovers roads criss crossing the hill tops.
  • Horses like Bella, our 20 year old thoroughbred pictured with Sara, are pampered here. Our Monarch stables have fully cushioned rubber flooring, lighting, and built in mangers and water feeders. Ease tired muscles under the infrared heat lamps and wash off under a warm rain shower using relaxing lavender products. We can even arrange to have them smartened up top to toe by a specialist in trimming and clipping.
  • Our horses always enjoy heading to the sandy beach and splashing through the waves at Barmouth. Horses are also walked in hand along the shoreline and are content to cool off their tendons in the shallows whilst taking in the magical views of Cardigan Bay.
  • We can also offer turnout, subject to availability, and a place to roll on deep woodchip.

A place for Dogs...

Here are Bryn and Gwen, our very friendly resident Border Collies. We welcome well behaved, house-trained and fully vaccinated dogs aged over six months to stay with their owners in Talerddig, our ground level room, with its own terrace and direct access onto acres of private woodland, all surrounded by stone walls. Visiting dogs who prefer to live outdoors can also be housed overnight in the snug back stable. We can provide a luxury dog bed - with newly laundered cover, towels, a doggy welcome pack and an outdoor warm water shower, organic dog shampoo, followed by infrared heat treatment,  so your muddy pooch can freshen up before dinner.  And if you want to head off for a dog-free day or snooze for longer we can provide a ‘nanny’ to walk and look after the four-legged members of your family. With the owners permission, sausages are available at breakfast.
